3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2 tsp soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp cloves
1/4 tsp salt
2 1/4 cups flour
Mix, cover and chill for 1 hour. Roll in balls then roll in sugar. Bake on greased cookie sheet for 8 minutes at 375 degrees.
